Chengdu Hi-tech Development Zone(CDHT) covers an area of 82.5 km2 (31.9 sq mi), consisting of the South Park and the West Park. In the future, it will be built into a modern manufacturing base in western China, a window of opening-up, scientific and technological progress, structural adjustment and system innovation, and an open, scientific and ecological new urban area. In 2017, the GDP of chengdu economic and Development Zone reached 120.09 billion yuan, up 9% year on year. With an overall planning area of 133.34km², Chengdu Economic and Development Zone is a modern manufacturing base dominated by automobiles (construction machinery) and key components determined by Sichuan Province and Chengdu City. It is also a "characteristic growth hundred-billion industrial park" mainly cultivated by Sichuan Province.
