The Hangzhou Economic-Technological Development Area（HEDA） is located at the heart of the Yangtze River Delta economic circle. Since 2008, the industrial economy has grown at an average annual rate of more than 30 percent, forming four leading industries of electronic information, biomedicine, machinery manufacturing and food and beverage. In 2006, the total industrial output value of the development zone was 111.34 billion yuan, and the export value was 7.111 billion US dollars. The comprehensive economic strength of the development zone ranked 12th in the national level. With the goal of building the sub-center of a garden-style ecological city, Hangzhou Development Zone vigorously implements the strategy of "establishing an environmental district". It is the only National Development Zone integrating industrial park, higher education park and export processing zone in China. It has basically formed four pillar industries such as electronic communication, biomedicine, machinery manufacturing and food and beverage.
